PennDot does not consider Parkesburg an active project

Plans for expanded parking, higher platforms, improved waiting areas, and other upgrades at train stations along the 104-mile Keystone Corridor will move forward within the next few years, a Pennsylvania transportation representative said Friday.

Five of the 12 train stations on the Keystone Corridor, which stretches from Harrisburg to Philadelphia, are in Chester County.

“A lot of these stations, nothing has been done with them since my grandfather came home from World War II,” said Jennie Granger, director of aviation at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Meeting will discuss future of county’s 5 major train stations

Amt Parksburg-eastbound-stationThis Friday the Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC) will host a Fall Luncheon featuring the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Jennie Granger.

Granger, head of the railways department as well as Aviation Director, will discuss the initiatives, goals and strategies for the future of Chester County’s five major train stations (Paoli, Downingtown, Coatesville, Parkesburg and Exton) based on PennDOT’s Plan The Keystone study.

“The Keystone Corridor is an asset to Chester County residents, businesses and elected officials,” said TMACC Executive Director, P. Timothy Phelps. “We continue to witness strong ridership growth. The initiatives proposed by PennDOT to improve the needs of these rapidly growing train stations directly benefits riders and improves service. Our Luncheon will provide ideas and realistic answers from Jennie Granger which will shed light into the future of these transportation hubs.”
