Hope rides on a new Coatesville train station

Coatesville Station

Boarded up, with peeling paint and an empty platform, the shuttered train station at the end of Third Street is a portrait of urban blight, emblematic of so much of downtown Coatesville.

But local and state officials are pinning their hopes of getting a citywide revitalization on track with an $18 million-plus spruce-up of this underused Amtrak station.

Amtrak trains still stop at the Coatesville station – albeit without ticket sales or baggage services. Just under 15,000 people caught a ride there in 2011.

Chesco Grand Prix in Parkesburg! ROAD CLOSURES

July 9th is fast approaching. The event is from 5-9pm in the downtown area of 1st Ave.. Parking in the 1st Ave-4th area will be impacted. Please look at the attached flyer for info on the route and road closures, FREE kids races beginning at 5:50 and how you can support the event.

This year the Parkesburg VFW will offer food and beverages.. There will be other food vendors/options for your enjoyment. Proceeds will support non-profits making a difference in people’s lives.
