Thursday Could Lead to More Power Outages

Updated 2/12/2014 @ 11:04am: The National Weather Service has adjusted their Winter Storm Watch to be in effect from Wednesday evening at 10pm through 1am Friday. Expected now is snow and sleet, with accumulations of 6 to 10 inches. Freezing rain has been removed from the forecast.

Tonight’s  snow will be mainly after midnight, with new snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

The snow could be heavy at times on Thursday, and additional accumulations of 4 to 8 inches possible.


5295c397267e1.preview-300A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Wednesday evening through late Thursday Night. This watch includes far Southeastern Pennsyvania (including Parkesburg and the surrounding areas), Southwestern New Jersey, far Northeastern Maryland, and Northern Delaware.

Expect snow, sleet, and freezing rain, with accumulations of 6 to 10 inches. Percipitation should begin as mostly snow Wednesday night. The snow is forecast to change to a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain during the day Thursday, before changing to snow and tapering off Thursday night.

Travel could be significantly impacted across the area, especially Thursday, with the expectation of 10 to 20 MPH winds, and gusts up to 25 MPH.

Thursday could lead to power outages with significant ice accumulations, and as winds increase.
