The Octorara Area School Board reorganized Dec. 2 and welcomed one new school board member — Tim Alexander of Region 3 — to the table.
Alexander, a Parkesburg resident, won his seat in the November election and replaced Robert Hume, who retired and did not seek reelection.
The school board unanimously reelected Lisa Bowman as president and Brian Norris as vice president.
Meeting times, however, have changed. Beginning the week of Dec. 9, the school board will begin most committee meetings at 6 p.m., and school board meetings and work sessions will start at 7 p.m. rather than at 7:30 p.m.
Also, the school board will not hold a work session in July.
The school board made one committee change, naming Alexander as representative to the Chester County Intermediate Unit board, as Nelson Stoltzfus requested to be relieved of the assignment.
Other committee assignments are: Dan Carsley and Kim McCully of the business office to the Lancaster County Tax Collection Bureau; Bowman, legislative committee representative; Sam Ganow, representative to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association; Stoltzfus, Ganow and Norris to the personnel committee; Stoltzfus, Norris, Shawna Johnson and Leon Lapp to the facilities committee.
Also: Johnson, Bowman and Ganow to the policy committee; Ganow, Norris and Johnson to the finance committee; Stoltzfus to the Chester County School Authority; and Norris, Sheri Melton and Bowman to the education committee.
