The new Lancaster General Health Center near Routes 10 and 30, which bills itself as “the new place to turn,” is inviting the community to take a turn around its newly opened two-story health center during an open house from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 19.
Lancaster General will have doctors and staff at the facility at 950 Octorara Trail to introduce themselves, offer tours and point families toward some fun and refreshments.
DJ Andie Summers of radio station 92.5 WXTU plans to broadcast live from the facility, and children will be able to pick mini pumpkins courtesy of neighboring Hershey’s Farm Market.
Home Depot will also run a kids construction workshop on the site, and there will be free refreshments courtesy of Wawa.
A recent visit to the site found construction workers finishing their punch lists in time for the facility’s opening for its first patients on Oct. 16.
The new health center is offering a practice of Lancaster General primary family care physicians; urgent, cardiology and ob/gyn care; and diabetes education. Saturday laboratory and imaging services will also be up and running for patients on Oct. 26.
Dr. Randy Kochel of County Line Medical Physicians in Gap said Lancaster General originally anticipated moving the Gap practice, established in 1983, to the new facility. He said, however, Lancaster General executives decided to expand east to meet health care needs in Chester County and to keep the County Line practice going as well.
