Harrisburg – Governor Tom Corbett [on Wednesday] urged legislative leaders to pass the Fiscal Code. The Fiscal Code includes language to implement the commonwealth’s annual budget and specific provisions that will support school funding for Philadelphia.
“The legislative leaders need to resolve their differences and act responsibly to send the Fiscal Code to my desk for approval as soon as possible,” Corbett said.
Secretary of the Budget Charles Zogby said, “Should the legislature fail to promptlypass the Fiscal Code, it could have significant implications on commonwealth spending and revenues.”
“If left to languish, it will reduce this year’s available funding by $235 million, potentially forcing cuts to higher education and will impact our ability to further fund Philadelphia schools,” Zogby said.
